Main Stage Productions
Main Stage Productions are fully-produced shows performed in smaller black box venues around Seattle, which allow us to continue advancing the careers of artists we have worked with through our Script Development programs and the Incubator/Mentor program, while bringing new artists into our community.
Interested in working with us? We accept and review script submissions from playwrights as well as proposals for specific shows from directors. We produce no more than 2 Main Stage productions in a season, but we are really interested in getting to know you! We will be opening a submission process for directing pitches in late summer 2024. Playwrights are encouraged to submit through our Script Development program or apply directly through this form.
Kasper Cergol and Kay Taylor Yelinek in All New Cells by Aliza Goldstein, June 2023
Through storytelling we create new meaning and new ways of knowing the world, for ourselves and for our audience.
Values
We strive:
to empower women, non-binary, and trans theatre artists to serve as creative leaders and decision makers through opportunity for increasing responsibility.
to create new meaning and new ways of knowing the world by providing audiences with new stories and with old stories told through different lenses.
to craft our own way of making theatre, whether in a theatre space or on a digital platform.
Artistic Vision
We strive:
to center the stories told by women, non-binary, and transgender theatre makers through their own lens and lived experience.
for equitable representation among artists and the characters portrayed in the stories we tell. All plays produced on our mainstage will include over 50% characters and/or actors who are female, non-binary, and/or transgender.
to produce plays with characters who represent a normal span of ages among these individuals.
to tell stories that are new as well as to re-imagine “canonical” plays through critical modern frameworks.
