Plays In Progress Fall 2025 - Director Applications & Script Submissions
We are accepting script submissions for a limited number of slots available in our 2025 script development program as well as applications from directors interested in working on our Fall Plays in Progress 2025 series. Please review the full information about the Plays in Progress 2025 series on our Script Development page.
Directors - Directors for the Plays in Progress staged readings should have an appreciation of new works for the stage and an understanding of the playwright’s creative process. Plays in Progress centers the playwright’s needs as a theatre maker, so directors for these readings should have the skills and mindset to enter the rehearsal and performance process with a questioning and collaborative approach which will allow the playwright to see how the current iteration of their script is handled in a basic production format by other theatre makers. Stipend - $150 Click here to apply
Playwrights - The staged-reading format offers the playwright an opportunity to:
learn how their script is handled in a basic production format by a director and cast.
collaborate with a director and cast to answer questions and guide the interpretation of their script.
witness the impact on their story of minimal production elements, as determined by the director.
evaluate the impact of their story through feedback from audience members as well as other theatre artists.
receive usable inquiry-based feedback through facilitated feedback discussions.
build connections with Seattle-based directors and actors.
Playwrights will receive a royalty of $25 for the staged reading of their script. Click here to submit a script
