Play Synopses, Character Breakdown, & Callbacks
"Gallery of Perspective and Light"
written by Darby Sherwood and directed by Alison Kozar.
About the play and the production:
Gallery of Perspective and Light is a piece composed of multiple short “moment” plays that showcase turning points from people on the brink of history. This play is inspired by many pieces of visual art and seeks to explore the way that context shapes our human experience, since we only ever live in one time and only ever see through two eyes.
Missed connections. Is there something I could have said or done that would have kept us together, or was fate set in stone? Are social expectations a judgy ghost forever haunting our decisions? Is making no decision the same as being buried alive? Is all milk the same?
Content warnings: Death is discussed, but no deaths occur in the text. Questions about the script may be addressed to us at theshatteredglassproject@gmail.com and we will arrange for responses from the director.

"Queenfisher"
written by Natalie Schmidt and directed by Helen Gebreamlak.
About the play and the production:
In this queer reimagining of the myth of Ceyx and Alcyone, weather goddess Iris’s life on the magical island of Aeolia has been upended by her best friend Alcyone’s whirlwind romance and sudden marriage to seafarer Ceyx. When an ill omen chases Ceyx from the island in pursuit of an oracle, Iris and Alcyone must contend with sea-drenched ghosts, unsettling dreams, and close-held secrets as they struggle to shape their futures.
CallBack Date
Callbacks for QUEENFISHER will be held on Saturday, October 2nd between 12pm-5pm. Please let us know if you have any conflicts within that window, so we can make alternate arrangements if necessary.

Casting notes and information:
This show will involve some movement and stage combat but is mostly character driven. Actors can be of any age or race. Actors of color are especially encouraged to audition.
Roles available:
IRIS: She/her. A relatively new weather goddess who grew up on Aeolia and serves as the Olympians' messenger. Literally a rainbow in human form. Transcends mortality and is therefore slightly baffled by it. Devoted to her friends but never loses sight of what she wants.
ALCYONE: She/her. The caretaker of the moving island of Aeolia and a demigoddess, which sounds fancier than it is--she's the mortal daughter of a god. Sees the best in everyone. She was happy living mostly alone on Aeolia; now, she's happier. This role requires some movement work. This character kisses CEYX.
MORPHEUS: He/him, but can be played by an actor of any gender. One of three minor dream gods. A shapeshifter and a trickster with a soft spot for humans. An excellent mimic. Plays all other characters; occasionally plays Iris and Ceyx too. This role requires stage combat.
CEYX: She/her. A seafarer, an adventurer, a swashbuckler with a heart of gold. She's been looking for safe harbor and will do anything to protect it now that she's found it. This role requires stage combat and some movement work. This character kisses ALCYONE.
"Machismo"
written by Spencer J. Vigil and directed by Alanah Pascual.
About the play and the production:
Machismo is a story about finding your place within your family and cultural heritage, but what happens when that same culture grows to exclude your authentic self? Machismo is a play in search of truth and understanding within the love a family holds for one another.
This is a an ensemble driven piece that will require cast to collaborate in the rehearsal process--some singing and dancing may also be involved!

Loli: 16/17 He/Him: Loli, Lawrence, is Max’s cousin and best friend. Very protective. The strongest person you will ever meet. Loli often relies on his strength and masculine traits to compensate for his lack of emotional depth in his relationships. A man of action. Loli wants to be emotionally available but is often afraid of being seen as weak within his family/friend circles.
Ector: 18/19 He/Him: Ector is Max’s older brother who is not as supportive. Very close to Loli who he practically raised. There is a hardness to Ector but not an unwillingness. Nani (abuela): 60/70 She/Her: Matriarch of the family. Is trying to relearn toxic familial patterns in order to understand and support Max. She loves all her grandchildren but gives a little more attention to Max. They are curious but also apprehensive. Together, Linn and her expired self (Dead Linn) must conquer their fears, come to terms with their past, and find their way through the inevitable ending.

Dead Linn/Mother
Linn/Child.
Roles available:
LINN: A young fat woman who has lived her life without the courage to take control of her dreams. She finds herself adrift, heading towards one sure conclusion; nothing special and a side of death. She is a painter but will never sell a painting. Also--this story isn’t about her being fat, she still is. Female-presenting, some movement required
DEAD LINN: A young still fat dead woman who knows how this story goes; it’s her own. Come back again (not quite sure how? why?) She wants to change fate and live a little after she dies, which has already happened-- duh.. Female- presenting, some movement required
BLACK CAT: Linn’s therapist who is prone to many questions with few answers, and the odd history lecture. She is made up of night terrors that make you sweat through your sheets. Beware. Movement-based
BLUE GIRL: She’s a blue girl, from a blue world, she dances, she plays; she exists only for the page. Who's really behind all that blue? Movement-based, dance background a plus. Female-presenting
BROWN BEAR: Linn’s Date who is a large warm presence, they are just happy to be out in actual civilization and not river fishing. They are looking for love, or just companionship, or just someone to scritch their back every once in a while. Movement-based
COUNT MAITRE D: They’re a vampire waiter of course--Mwah ha ha ha!(pls tip them, garlic repellent isn’t free ya know.)
MOTHER: She creates a new life from the old ones; a vessel and the mold.
